The 2 year old classroom is comprised of children from 2 years of age until they are potty trained and until September of the year following their third birthday. The child to teacher ratio for this classroom is 7:1. Like in the other classrooms, activities are designed to be developmentally appropriate. In the 2 year old classroom, potty training takes center stage. As the beginnings of pretend play develop, you can observe children of this age imitating the adults and children in their lives. Dolls, animal figures, and play kitchens enhance this play. Teachers will facilitate your child’s play and guide them toward positive social behavior. The older children are, the more inquisitive they become. At Mighty Minds Little Hands, we do all we can to satisfy that natural curiosity. Within our homelike environment, your older toddler is free to be anything from an artist to an engineer. Playing “pretend,” learning games, hands-on activities – these are just a few of the ways we keep kids engaged. Since learning how to relate to others is important, we do large and small group activities every day. The 2 year old class is taught by Linda Antigua and Amanda Jenkins. Linda has been working at Mighty Minds Little Hands for 2 years and has completed all required teaching courses mandated by the state of Virginia. Amanda is a third year UVA student majoring in Elementary Education.
