At this age, children are inventors, problem solvers, discoverers and dreamers. They learn about the world around them as they take things apart, put them together and ask lots and lots of questions. We give them the guidance and the tools they need to explore and learn within a comfortable, secure environment. In this classroom children expand their horizons with hands on learning every day. With a weekly theme, children are exposed to an array of different activities in all subjects including science, history, language, culture, music, art, and many more. These students are beginning to think symbolically, able to listen and comprehend stories, and write letters eventually writing their own names. These children are using words to express their emotions, and they are continuing to grow more independent. These students are in a key stage of social development, they are learning to make friends, and often interacting during play, taking turns, and sharing as opposed to the parallel play structure observed during the younger years. Language development is flourishing as well as the knowledge about the world around us. This classroom prepares the students to progress through the older preschool classes. The three year old class is taught by Andrea Wasulko and Jonathan Antigua. Ms. Andrea earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at West Virginia University, and Mr. Jonathan is a native Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic. |
