At Mighty Minds Little Hands International Preschool, your child will be offered a unique blend of French & Spanish immersion. A child who learns a language before age six has a better chance of acquiring a native accent and retaining the ability to communicate in that language. Spanish and French taught by handpicked certified faculty, including the owner Ghizlaine Taft.

Your child will discover himself or herself and the joys of learning in a happy, secure and non-competitive atmosphere. We encourage creativity and curiosity. As the children begin to explore the mysteries of the big, beautiful world around them, an excitement is created which is the foundation of learning. This enjoyment will last a lifetime.

We believe in letting each child work individually, at his/her own pace. The emphasis is on understanding a foreign language. Our method is to teach by example, to model what we want then to learn, and then let the child repeat or show what he or she understands.

Mighty Minds Little Hands is owned and operated by Michael and Ghizlaine Taft. Michael works for a local construction company based in Albemarle County and will ensure that the business runs properly and is well maintained at all times.  Ghizlaine earned a B.A in Elementary and Secondary Education as well as Romance Languages and a Masters of Science in Counseling. Ghizlaine has taught in both private and public schools, pre-school through grade 12 French and Spanish since August of 1992.  She has met all requirements and is fully certified through the department of Social Services, she is CPR and First Aid certified as well and has completed the required M.A.T training hours in order to be certified.

Mighty Minds, Little Hands International Preschool provides the children with a unique and safe environment for fundamental and educational purposes. Children from all backgrounds and ages 6 weeks to 5 years old are welcome. We are open all year around from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, during which time you are welcome to give us a call at 434-975-HAND (4263). Upstairs in the preschool; we have three classrooms with a lead teacher who implements daily lesson plans.  We have a media center fully equipped with music, computers and books.  Downstairs in the daycare part, we have an infant room, a toddler’s room and a big indoor playroom.

Philosophy

These formative years are the most crucial in every child’s life. The most important part of our program is to guide each child in building a solid foundation of self-esteem and confidence.  From this, other good things will naturally flow: healthy personal traits such as independence, responsibility and maturity, good social habits such as friendliness, kindness, cooperation, and communication. When a child is treated with respect, he learns to respect himself and others.

The center is open for parents to visit and observe their children at anytime.  All children, regardless of ethnic background, race, color, or religious beliefs, are equal and participate in our non-discriminating environment.

We are dedicated to giving your child individual attention, approval and affection that he or she needs to build this foundation for a happy and successful future. Our primary goal is to help a child say “I like being me!” Our secondary goal is to create peace of mind for parents while their children are provided with a home away from home.  Our third goal is to introduce children to the language and culture of other countries.
